O’Tom Tick Hook
The traditional method was to use a pair of fine tipped tweezers and grasping the tick by the head, as near to the skin as possible, and pulling it straight out. The only problem with this method, is that it can be hard to gage the amount of pressure needed to grasp the tick
without squeezing or crushing it and leaving parts of it behind.
Today however there are various specially designed products available that make removing ticks a simple task. One such product is the ‘O’Tom Tick Hook‘. To remove a tick with this tool you simply slide the hook around the tick, then twist it a few times and then pull the tick away from your pets body.
The advantages of this type of tool are that you don’t have to worry about applying too much pressure to the tick, plus the tick never comes into contact with your skin, avoiding any chance of you picking up an infection from the tick.
